In 2015, the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), a nonprofit organization focused on reporting medical ethics, released a series of videos. These videos contained footage of CMP staff engaging with Planned Parenthood Federation of America’s senior management. What was the topic of conversation? Horrifically, the selling of tissue and organs from aborted babies.
In these videos, CMP staff posed as a Tissue Procurement Organization, an agency which collects fetal organs at abortion clinics for research. The footage shows Planned Parenthood staff negotiating prices with CMP. It’s evident the business is not new to them. At one point, Dr. Mary Gatter, former President of Planned Parenthood’s Medical Director’s Council, even says, “I want a Lamborghini,” knowing the profit her organization will make from the sales.
When the footage was released, the abortion giant claimed, “The allegation that Planned Parenthood profits in any way from tissue donation is not true.” But, over the next three years, something interesting started to happen. One-by-one the senior staff members shown in the undercover videos started resigning. Dr. Gatter was gone in 2017. By January 2018, Cecile Richards, the former President and CEO had left too. Shockingly, 13 of the 21 executive staff members mentioned in Planned Parenthood’s latest annual report are new to their positions.
Coincidence? Maybe…but probably not. Planned Parenthood has found themselves in inevitably hot water. With investigations underway, it’s only a matter of time before their shady dealings are fully revealed. In any case, we hope Planned Parenthood’s former leadership will be able to find new work; work that is both fulfilling and life-giving.
