Knowing that many women support our ministry and identify with our clients because they, too, have experienced unintended pregnancies, over the past year we invited friends of our ministry to share their personal stories. The narratives we received from friends near and far warmed our hearts. The next few posts you read will be our favorites, written in their own words. Among other women, you’ll meet:
Stacie: A 21-year-old college student engaged to be married when she faced her unexpected pregnancy, Stacie prayed that she wasn’t pregnant. “As I write this I tear up because I remember exactly what God said back to me.”
Billie: At age 18, Billie stood firm in choosing life for her baby over the father’s objections. Instead, the couple got married, and Billie gave birth to a son, Robert. “I was deeply in love with this little boy,” Billie writes. There were complications, however, and Billie was informed that if he survived, her son would be handicapped.
Leah: As a young bride, Leah had a five-year career plan that did not include pregnancy. “I jokingly say our five-year career plan lasted about five minutes,” she writes.
Judi: Judi works at a pregnancy help center. Her favorite story is about a divorced mother of 3 children, ages 11 to 20, who was 40 when she found out that she and her widowed boyfriend, also the father of three, were expecting. They were mortified as well as dismayed. What would they tell their children? How could they start over at their age?
Keep checking in to meet these women as well as others and read their stories. Unexpected pregnancy or unexpected blessing?
